Where'd the website go? It was here a minute ago!
Ya ever walk into your house/apartment/cardboard box and realize it was time for a change? Well, the Dark Half website has been in dire need for a change for about.... oh, a year now. Fact is, time has not been exactly kind to me to allow for such a frivolity. And, truth be told, I didn't really have it high on my list of things to do. A revamp of the site would be nothing more than putting up new colors and images, but with nothing "fancy". By fancy, I mean the technology that I've been missing out on for a while - Javascript, VBScript, Active Server Pages, and so forth. Since I have asperations of doing web development, the Dark Half website was a bit of an embarrasment.
Rather than complaining about it, I sought to change a few things. First off, for the past nine months, I've been taking classes on web development. Sure, they're probably nothing more than introductory classes, but they got my feet more than wet. For the most part, I can now understand the scripting that I read when I look at the source of pages. What I don't understand, I can experiment with until I do understand it. It's be a load of fun. In addition, on the creative side of things, I've learned more about Photoshop and Illustrator. I've also worked with some of the more interesting aspects of Flash, all of which I hope to put to good use.
So, I'm hoping to update the Dark Half website using some of the knowledge I've picked up in the recent months. Heck, I might even expand on it a little and learn a little PHP or Perl. I'll be taking a class on XML shortly, which should be interesting. I'll also be starting on my CIW (Certified Internet Webmaster) certification to build on what I already know. Heck, I might even do that MSCE thing that everyone seems to be doing. We'll see.
Of course, during all this time, the Lady Kysanth has been working with her noble steed, Knight. He's become quite the equine gentleman and I've even had the pleasure of working with him. He's a little over two years old now, and is slowly being trained to handle a rider. I recently purchased (read: Kysanth let me buy) a really nice camera, so I hope to get some stills up. There are some already up, but they don't do the ol' boy justice. Shoot an e-mail to Kysanth and she'll point you in the right direction.
Anyway, I think I've rambled on enough. Just wanted to let everyone know what's going on. I haven't fallen of the face of the earth, I've just limited my games and activities a little. If you feel like shooting me, you still can as I've been playing CounterStrike under the alias "ChowDerHead" (yep, that's me). You can find me on Force137's server from time to time, so feel free to knife me. If you want a broader list of servers, just let me know.
Finally, the "Props" section, just to let everyone know I haven't forgotten all my buddies. Don't feel like reading the "Props"? Then you are more than welcome to hit the messageboard. I'll try to visit it from time to time. And before you ask "Why aren't you giving Props to Lady Kysanth?" think about it for a minute. You really want me to get all mushy for several hundred pages? Didn't think so.

Who?

Why?
|
| EzFrag | This guy never lets you down. More importantly, he can shout profanity in seven octaves, own Priior in "Tea Cups", and can goad anyone into doing almost anything. Even rollercoasters. |
| DaZumlin | He always tells you how it is. And without him, I would give up working on D&D. |
| Algron | Not sure about this one... I think I put his name here since I know he'll never see it. I know - because he always covers my butt in CounterStrike. Well, usually. |
| Pebbz & Priior | Because they're Canadian. And because of Disneyland. |
| Gravis & the My-Tee Inflictor |
For being the coolest father/son team on the Internet. And for some killer memories at Fragfest and the LoS LAN. |
| Shamino & his Boyz (XPD8) | For tolerating the Dark Half and never making fun of us when we lost 0-7, 0-7, 0-7. And, for letting us win on rctf4 - The Hallway of Doooooom - the *only* time we beat them. |
| Jamerz & Chippy | For taking us out and around to see the sights of California, making sure we wouldn't get killed on the Sunset Strip, showing us the Mecca of computer stores (Fry's), and most importantly, proving to us that Jamerz could drink an *entire* pitcher of rasberry iced tea. |
| The Mighty Iron Rajn | For always giving 900% no matter what. He's a pit bull that knows his stuff. |
| Da(m)n | Because of all the cool stuff he showed me about web design. |
| Bulletstop | He has swords. 'Nuff said. |
| Zero | His brother has swords. =) |
| FxMuLdeR | Foxie was *the* most polite player I have ever met. One of these days, we're all going to show up on his doorstep and scare the hell outta his mom. Mark my words. |
| Vicious | He's always there to help out. |
| Zeroumus | Because he's Canadian! Oh wait - I already used that. Because he's the reason why everyone hates the SSG. |
| Tolyn | He helped me put oak caps on my knee-walls. (Never saw that one coming, did ya?) |
| Khale | For letting me kick his ass in the Quake3 Beta Test while we were waiting for CompuServe to install T1's. |
| CoRaX | He's the only guy I know who could take down 4 opponents *cough*XPD8*cough* with a ping of 250, armed with a Desert Eagle, while hiding under a train. That was scary. |
| Stinky | He valiantly fought through packet-loss, high ping, and poor frame rates while trying to capture the flag. And he always was there covering you. |
| TeCNeeK | For the coolest spelling that I've seen for "Technique". Ever. (And for politely reminding me that I neglected to include him on the "Props" list.) |
|
..... okay, I *know* I'm forgetting people. Unfortunately, my server is almost done installing, so I'm a little rushed. My deepest apologies for publishing an incomplete list. If I've forgotten you and you know that you have to be on this list, send me an e-mail and jar my memory. If I've not forgotten you, you can shoot me an e-mail anyway and jar my memory. If you're wondering who I am, it's easy..... I'm By-Tor. |
